IE Bugs

Sorry. If this page looks rubbish in IE, I've given up!

This page is crafted in Standards Compliant XHTML 1.1 and CSS (with a couple of extra non standard but safe features).

According to my tests, IE8 works OK and so does IE7, more or less. But anything earlier will make a mess of the menu. It should still be clickable and should function but it won't be pretty.

The main problem is Microsoft's infamous ineptitude at adhering to open standards and in this case it is mostly related to the box model bug.

I'm not a professional web developer and I'm not being paid so I'm not really prepared to go to a huge amount of trouble to work around Microsoft's poor programming skills. If you own your own computer, I would recommend that you consider upgrading to Google Chrome (it's very fast and very good), Firefox (this is extremely featureful and works pretty much ubiquitously) or at the very least, Internet Explorer 8. If you are using a work computer and they won't upgrade the browser or let you install a decent one, you have my sympathies but hopefully you will still be able to get around this site.

Anyone who's a web dude and has any good CSS only workrounds for IE7 and earlier is welcome to send them to me at tw@dionic.net. I do have several CSS stylesheet files that are triggered by IE only and bodges/workarounds could be incorporated into those (I have a couple of tweaks that I came across already).

Update I think I have IE7 displaying more or less OK (except for embedded content - but you can still click onto the website using the link at the top). IE6 goes weird but to be honest, IE 6 is so old why are you still using it - IE7 was only released in 2006 after all!
