This was the first place I stayed in Latvia. My friend's mother had a farm upriver from Riga near a place called Lielvarde.

We were kindly driven by my friend's friend to the beaches along the coast from Apsuciems to Roja. The one thing I noticed was how clean and beautiful the sea line is in Latvia.

Vilnius

I spent a couple of days touring Vilnius and the surrounding area. Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania and interestingly has a very different style to Riga.

I was very fortunate to be shown around Trakai by a charming local woman called Greta. She was the friend of a friend and lived in Vilnius.

After returning from Lithuania I spent some time exploring Riga.
